Killing time in the Auckland Airport

Filed under: New Zealand Trip — sharon @ 10:45 am

After a painless flight, I sit (well, stand actually) here awaiting another. Kudos to Air New Zealand…actual legroom in coach. Watched a movie, from a good selection, and then I managed about six or seven hours sleep. No one in the middle seat and a really interesting guy from Santa Cruz was in the other…works for the FAA, surfer, has property here on the North Island, and the son of a well known author. Enjoyed chatting with him. Unfortunately, it was dark when we landed (1/2 an hour early) and I couldn’t see anything but city lights. Will have to wait for my Queenstown departure. I’m assured it will be a spectacular flight for looking out my window.

Samsung has these marketing displays all over the airport with free internet access terminals, so I’m taking advantage. Doesn’t seem to be any wireless, so I can’t use my PC and adorn my initial post with a photo. But I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunity as I continue the trip.

The Mollster should be taking off any time now for Shanghai. I hope she has a great time and I’m looking forward to sharing our experiences – but even more so to the next time she and I can go somewhere exciting together.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Friday that I’ve lost to the dateline!

  1. Sharon, have a great time in NZ — you can go whale watching by helicopter there. Let me know if you see any good spots for rock climbing. Molly, have fun in China! Hope to see you guys soon. –Jennifer
